Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 2026-07-06
PrintablesWorld is operated by Brightscale Labs Limited (England and Wales). We want everyone — including people who use assistive technology — to be able to browse the site, generate a printable, and download the PDF. This statement explains what we do to support accessibility, where we fall short today, and how to reach us if something isn't working for you.
1. Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, motor, auditory and cognitive differences. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing effort, not a one-time task: we review it as we build and update tools.
2. What we do to support accessibility
- Semantic HTML — pages use proper headings, landmarks, lists and labels so screen readers can announce structure and controls.
- Full keyboard operation — the site navigation and each tool's settings can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, without a mouse.
- Visible focus — interactive elements show a clear focus indicator so keyboard users can see where they are.
- Colour contrast — our design tokens target the WCAG AA contrast ratio for text and essential controls in both light and dark themes.
- Light and dark themes — a theme toggle respects your system preference and lets you pick the mode that's easiest on your eyes.
- Responsive, touch-friendly layouts — pages reflow to any screen size with adequately sized touch targets, and content does not require horizontal scrolling.
- No barriers to get started — tools are free, need no account or sign-in, and the site sets no cookies until you accept the cookie banner.
- Plain language — instructions and "what this tool does" sections are written in plain English.
3. Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We're working on these and welcome your feedback:
- Generated PDFs — printables are produced for printing, so the downloaded PDF may not be fully tagged for screen readers. The on-screen tool is the accessible path to the same content; if you need a worksheet in an alternative format, contact us and we'll help.
- Visual puzzles — some outputs (mazes, word searches, colour-by-number, coloring pages) are inherently visual and can't be fully conveyed through a screen reader.
- The live PDF preview renders to a canvas; it is a preview only, and the downloadable PDF and the on-page settings remain the primary, accessible way to use each tool.
- The Workbook editor is a drag-and-drop, canvas-style layout tool that is highly visual and not yet fully operable with a keyboard or screen reader. The individual generators cover most of the same output in an accessible form.
- Advertising — ads are served by Google AdSense; their content and markup are outside our control.
4. Compatibility
The site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and has been checked with common screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA (Windows) and TalkBack (Android). Browsers released in the last two years should work well; older browsers may render with reduced styling while keeping the core content readable.
5. Reporting an accessibility problem
If you find a barrier or something that's hard to use with assistive technology, please tell us at contact@brightscalelabs.com. To help us fix it quickly, please include:
- the page address (URL) where you hit the problem;
- a short description of what happened; and
- the browser and any assistive technology you were using.
We aim to respond within five working days and to fix high-impact issues within two weeks.
6. Enforcement
We want to resolve any issue directly, so please contact us first. If you're in Great Britain and unhappy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). In Northern Ireland, you can contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI).
7. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 2026-07-06. We review it at least once a year and update it after any significant accessibility work. For any question about accessibility on PrintablesWorld, email contact@brightscalelabs.com.
