What this tool does
A first-day All About Me sheet. Name and age at the top, then boxes for favourites, for family, and for a goal, and a large blank square for a self-portrait. Every section switches off independently, and the ones that remain grow to fill the page, so a reception sheet ends up with bigger lines than a Year 6 one.

The first morning of term
Name, age, birthday. Favourite things and favourite food. Who they live with. What they want to get better at this year. And a large empty box to draw themselves in.
It is low-pressure work that every child in the room can start immediately, which is the whole requirement on a first morning when half the class does not know where the pencils are. It also tells you more about who is in front of you in twenty minutes than a fortnight of registers will.
Turning sections off is the age setting
Favourites, family, goals and the drawing box each switch off on their own, and the boxes that survive expand to take the space.
That is the mechanism worth understanding. A reception class wants two sections and a very large drawing box, because most of them will draw rather than write and the lines need to be wide enough for enormous letters. A Year 5 class wants all four, smaller, with the goals box doing real work.
Same sheet, and nobody has to explain why some children got the easier version.
The goals box is the one to revisit
Most of the sheet is a snapshot. The goal is the only part that points forward, and it is worth treating differently.
File the sheets rather than displaying them, and bring them back out at the end of term. A child reading their own September handwriting saying they wanted to get better at reading, having spent four months getting better at reading, is a more convincing piece of evidence than anything you could tell them.
It also gives you something concrete to say at a parents' evening that is not a level.
Beyond the first day
The finished sheets make an obvious getting-to-know-you display, and asking each child to read out one fact rather than the whole sheet keeps the introductions to a manageable ten minutes.
It works outside a classroom too. A supply teacher with an unfamiliar room, the first session of a club, a new group at the start of a holiday scheme. Anywhere the adult needs names fast and the children need something to do that is not being looked at.

What age group is the All About Me worksheet for?
It suits early years through to upper primary. Younger children focus on the name, age, favourites and drawing box, while older pupils can write more in the family and goals sections.
Can I remove sections I do not need?

Is there an answer key?
No. This is a personal fill-in template, so there are no answers to mark. Every pupil's sheet is unique.
What paper sizes are supported?
