What this tool does
Colouring pages of big bold letters and numbers. Choose numbers over a range you set, uppercase or lowercase letters, both together, or type your own characters and short words. Pick a solid outline to colour inside or a dotted one to trace over, and set one to six shapes per row, which is also what decides how large each one comes out.

Big hollow characters, laid out in a grid
Each letter or number is drawn as a large bubble outline with a white middle, sized to fill the page in a tidy grid. Solid outline to colour inside. Dotted outline to trace over.
Numbers by default, running 1 to 9, and you can set the range to anything you like. Or uppercase A to Z, or lowercase, or letters and numbers together. Or type your own set: a child's name, this week's spelling words, the three letters they keep reversing.
Shapes per row is the size control
One to six, three by default, and there is no separate size setting because there does not need to be one. One per row gives an enormous character filling the width of the page. Six gives small ones.
One per row is what a two-year-old needs, and it is worth going that big even though it looks wasteful of paper. A child who cannot yet stay inside a 40 mm outline can stay inside a 180 mm one, and the difference between those two experiences is whether they want to do another.
Long sets flow onto extra pages automatically, so asking for A to Z at one per row gives you twenty-six sheets without any warning. Worth knowing before you press print.
Solid or dotted
Solid is a colouring page. The outline is the boundary and the inside is the activity.
Dotted turns the same character into tracing practice, and the pencil follows the dots rather than filling the middle. That is a formation exercise rather than a colouring one, and the two are worth keeping separate in your own head even though the sheet looks similar: one builds pencil control and letter shape, the other builds recognition and holds attention.
Using them
Colour the 3, then count out three crayons, then say the number aloud. That sequence, in that order, is doing more than the colouring is: it links the symbol, the quantity and the word, and those three are separate pieces of learning that a child has to connect for themselves.
For letters, a custom set made from a child's own name is the single most motivating sheet this tool produces. They will colour their own name for far longer than they will colour a random G.
Print one shape per page for the youngest children, or a full grid of 1 to 9 as a five-minute activity for a group. A4 or US Letter, and the preview updates as you change anything.
FAQs
Quick answers
Is the alphabet and number coloring page generator free?
Yes. Every option, letters, numbers, custom characters, solid and dotted outlines, is free to use with no sign-up. The PDF is generated in your browser and downloads straight to your device, ready to print at home or for a whole class.
Can I make a coloring page of just numbers, just letters, or both?
Yes. Choose numbers on their own (0–9 or any range like 1–20), uppercase letters, lowercase letters, both letters and numbers together, or your own custom set of characters. Long sets simply flow onto extra pages.
What is the difference between the solid and dotted outline?
A solid outline is a clean bubble shape with a white middle to colour inside. A dotted outline draws the same shape as a row of dots, which makes a tracing sheet. Children follow the dots to learn the shape of each letter or number.
Can I make a coloring page from a name or spelling words?
Yes. Pick the custom option and type the characters or short words you want, for example a child's name or this week's spelling list. Each entry becomes its own big outline shape.
How big are the shapes, and can I change it?
Use the shapes-per-row setting to control size: one or two per row gives very large shapes for little hands, while four to six per row fits more on a page. The shapes are sized to fill A4 or US Letter automatically.
Can I print on A4 and US Letter?
Both. Choose your paper size in the settings and the live preview and PDF update to match. The grid is centred and scaled to fit either size cleanly.
