Uppercase letters are a world of their own. Most sit tall between the top line and the baseline with no descenders, they use simpler strokes than many lowercase letters, and they appear every time a child writes a name, a sentence opener, or the first day of the week. A dedicated uppercase sheet gives children a chance to master these letter forms without the competing demands of lowercase rules.

Why a dedicated uppercase sheet?

Capital letters tend to be taught alongside lowercase, which means the child is juggling two parallel skills — two shapes for A, two shapes for B, and so on. A sheet focused only on uppercase lets the child concentrate on capital-letter mechanics: tall strokes, closed shapes, and the angular geometry that capitals use.

To focus on a single tricky letter — say the child's initial or a letter they are reversing — clear the default text and type that letter a dozen times on one line.

Methodology

The practice text is split into lines at each newline. Each line is printed as a row of uppercase letters in the chosen handwriting font, sitting on the standard 4-line ruling — top line, midline, baseline and descender line. Because uppercase letters are taught to reach the top line and sit on the baseline, the midline is used here as a secondary visual cue (most capitals cross or fill it) rather than a height limit.

Below the dotted trace row, the engine prints the requested number of blank ruled rows in the same 4-line band. When character boxes are enabled, a faint box encloses each letter on the trace row, giving the child a fixed cell to aim for — useful for children whose letters creep or compress. The same 4-line ruling is used across every handwriting sheet, so moving between uppercase, lowercase and sentence practice feels seamless.

Worked example
