Create Printable Decimals Worksheets Across All Four Operations
Generate free printable decimals worksheets covering addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or a mix — with your choice of 1, 2, or 3 decimal places on every number.
Download in A4 or US Letter PDF format with an optional answer key. Ideal for UK Year 4–6 and US Grade 4–6 as learners extend their whole-number arithmetic into the world of tenths, hundredths, and thousandths.
Why use this decimals worksheet generator?
Decimals are tricky because they look like whole numbers but behave differently, especially when lining up the decimal point or shifting it during multiplication and division. Use the generator for:
- adding and subtracting decimals by lining up the decimal point
- multiplying and dividing decimals and tracking the decimal-place count
- consolidating work on money problems (2 decimal places)
- bridging whole-number arithmetic into decimal arithmetic
- preparing for percentage and fraction conversion work
What you can customise
- Operation: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or Mixed
- Decimal places: 1, 2, or 3 — applied uniformly to every number on the sheet
- Number of problems per page
- Include answer key: separate answers page with every decimal answer pre-calculated
- Paper size: A4 or US Letter PDF
- Name and date fields for classwork
Notes and limitations
- The decimal-place setting fixes the precision of both operands on every problem. You cannot mix 1-place and 3-place operands on the same sheet.
- Division problems are constructed so the quotient fits within the chosen decimal places — you will not see repeating or irrational answers.
- Mixed mode randomises operations per question, so a single page may cycle through +, −, × and ÷ in any order.
- Print at 100% scale so decimal points remain crisp.
Who these worksheets are for
Parents
Support homework on money, metric measures, or SATs-style decimal arithmetic without searching for new PDFs each week.
Teachers
Produce targeted fluency sheets that match the decimal-place precision you are currently teaching.
Homeschool families
Build a decimal unit from tenths through hundredths to thousandths at your own pace.
Tutors
Use single-operation sheets to diagnose exactly where a student is struggling with decimals.
Worksheet style options
Single operation
Pick just addition or just multiplication when you want focused skill practice — ideal when introducing a new technique such as decimal multiplication.
Mixed operations
Choose Mixed for a revision or assessment-style sheet where learners must identify the operation for each problem.
Decimal-place progression
Start at 1 decimal place, move to 2 (money), then 3 (metric precision) as confidence grows.
How to use the tool
- Choose the operation (or Mixed).
- Select 1, 2, or 3 decimal places.
- Set the number of problems on the page.
- Toggle the answer key on if needed.
- Pick A4 or US Letter.
- Generate, preview, and download the PDF.
Worked example
Set Operation to Addition and Decimal places to 2. The generator might produce 4.73 + 2.58, 9.06 + 1.47, and 5.81 + 3.29. Students line up the decimal points and add column by column. The answer key lists 7.31, 10.53, 9.10 in the same order as the questions, so marking is a simple top-to-bottom scan.
Methodology
The decimals engine picks two random values at the selected precision (for example, values from 0.001 to 9.999 for 3 decimal places) then applies the chosen operation. For division it first picks the answer and divisor and multiplies back to construct the dividend, so quotients always land cleanly inside the chosen precision. For Mixed mode it shuffles operations per question. Every sheet is rendered through the shared branded PDF template.
Helpful preset ideas
- Addition, 1 decimal place — introduction to tenths
- Addition + Subtraction, 2 decimal places — money practice
- Multiplication, 1 decimal place — shifting the decimal point
- Mixed, 2 decimal places — end-of-unit revision
- Mixed, 3 decimal places — SATs-style stretch
Best ways to practise decimals
- Always line up the decimal point when adding and subtracting on paper.
- For multiplication, count the total number of decimal places in the question, then place the decimal point that many places in from the right of the answer.
- Check answers by estimating with whole numbers first (“5.81 + 3.29 is about 9”).
- Convert between decimals and fractions alongside this practice to reinforce the link.
Designed for A4 and US Letter Printing
The generator produces PDFs for both A4 and US Letter paper, so schools and homes on either format get a crisp, full-size printout with no cropping at the edges.

FAQs
Quick answers
Can I mix operations on a single worksheet?
Yes. Choose the "Mixed" operation and the generator will randomly combine addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
How many decimal places can I use?
You can choose 1, 2, or 3 decimal places. The same setting is applied to every problem on the sheet.
Is an answer key included?
Yes. Toggle "Include answer key" to add a separate answers page at the end.
Will division problems always divide evenly?
Division problems are generated so the quotient fits within the chosen number of decimal places, which keeps the answers readable.
