The two grids share the same lattice of points, but they serve different jobs. Worked example: a simple tessellation
Suppose you want a repeating three-colour tessellation on 10 mm triangular grid paper. Notice that six triangles meet at every vertex, alternating point-up and point-down. Colour one point-up triangle red, its point-down neighbour blue, and the next point-up triangle yellow, then repeat that A-B-C rhythm across each row, shifting the start colour by one each new row. Because the grid is exact, the pattern locks together perfectly and tiles the whole page. Cut along the printed edges and you have a set of identical equilateral triangles for a physical mosaic.
