What you can do with the Planner Builder

This tool renders printable planner pages from pre-made templates or your own custom layouts. You pick a paper size (A4 or US Letter), set a grid size and margin, then place objects—horizontal and vertical lines, boxes, text labels, and checklist blocks—anywhere on the page. The generator translates your design into a multi-page branded PDF with every element positioned to the millimetre.

The engine supports daily minimal planners, daily time-block schedules, and weekly grid layouts. Each template is a collection of drawing primitives: lines for time slots, boxes for notes or habit trackers, text for headers and day labels, and checklist objects that expand into multiple tick-box items. You can lock objects to prevent accidental edits, apply stroke and fill colours, adjust line thickness, add rounded corners to boxes, and control opacity and dash patterns.

What you can customise

  • Paper size — A4 or US Letter, with automatic coordinate translation.
  • Grid and margins — set a base grid size in millimetres and page margins to keep content inside safe print zones.
  • Object types — lines (horizontal or vertical), boxes (with optional corner radius), text (regular or bold, any font size), and checklists (specify item count and a label).
  • Style properties — stroke colour, fill colour, line thickness, opacity, dash arrays, text colour and font weight.
  • Multi-page projects — each project can contain multiple pages, each with its own name and object list.

How to use the tool

  1. Select a pre-made template (daily minimal, daily time-block, or weekly grid) or start a blank project.
  2. Choose your paper size: A4 (210 × 297 mm) or US Letter (8.5 × 11 in).
  3. Set your grid size and page margin to define the layout structure.
  4. Add objects to the canvas: drag lines for ruled rows, place boxes for note sections, insert text for headers or day names, and drop checklist blocks where you need tick-boxes.
  5. Adjust each object's position (x, y in millimetres from the top-left), width and height, and apply styles—stroke and fill colours, line thickness, corner radius, dash patterns.
  6. Add more pages if you're building a multi-day or multi-week planner.
  7. Click Generate to render the project into a print-ready PDF with PrintablesWorld branding, watermark and QR code on every page.

Designed for A4 and US Letter printing

The generator handles both A4 and US Letter natively. Coordinates you enter are in millimetres from the top-left corner; the engine converts them to PDF points with the origin at the bottom-left. This means your layout remains pixel-perfect whether you print on European A4 stock or North American Letter. Set appropriate margins (typically 10–15 mm) to avoid content bleeding into unprintable zones on home and office printers.

Worked classroom example

A primary teacher wants a weekly planner for five school days, Monday to Friday, with morning and afternoon time blocks, a notes box, and a habit tracker. She starts with the weekly grid template, which places five vertical columns and two horizontal rows for AM/PM. She adds a text object at the top reading "Week of [date]" in 16 pt bold, positions a large box at the bottom spanning the full width for notes, and inserts a checklist object on the right margin with seven items labelled "Habits." She sets the paper size to US Letter, the grid to 5 mm, and margins to 12 mm. After generating, she downloads a single-page PDF that prints cleanly on her classroom laser printer. She runs ten copies, holes-punches them, and distributes them to students on Monday morning.

Who the Planner Builder is for

Teachers and educators

Create custom lesson planners, class schedules, assignment trackers and student organizers. Add time-block grids for period planning or checklist columns for to-do items. Print a week's worth for your binder or share the PDF with colleagues.

Parents and homeschoolers

Design daily routines, chore charts, meal planners and homework logs. Use boxes for subject blocks, checklists for morning and evening tasks, and text labels for children's names. Print on Letter or A4 depending on your region.

Productivity enthusiasts

Build minimalist daily pages, bullet-journal-style weekly spreads, or goal-tracker sheets. Position lines and boxes exactly where you want them, lock recurring elements, and generate a fresh batch whenever you need refills.

Notes and limitations

  • The tool does not support images, icons or custom fonts—only the standard PDF regular and bold weights.
  • Checklist items are rendered as simple square boxes with a label; the generator does not populate tick marks or pre-fill text.
  • All measurements are in millimetres; if you need imperial units, convert inches to millimetres before entering coordinates.
  • The PDF is branded with a PrintablesWorld header, footer, watermark and QR code on every page. You cannot remove or customise these elements.
  • Colour parsing expects six-digit hex codes; invalid or missing colours default to black. Transparent stroke or fill values are honoured and will not draw.
  • The engine does not validate object overlap or warn if content extends beyond page margins—check your layout visually before printing.

FAQs

Quick answers

Can I remove the PrintablesWorld branding from the PDF?

No. Every page includes a branded header, footer, watermark and QR code. This is built into the shared PDF template and cannot be disabled.

How do I position objects in millimetres?

Coordinates are measured from the top-left corner of the page. The x value is the horizontal distance from the left edge, and y is the vertical distance from the top edge, both in millimetres. The generator converts these to PDF points internally.

What's the difference between a line and a box?

A line object draws a single straight stroke—horizontal or vertical—with a start point and length. A box object draws a rectangle with four sides, optional fill colour, and optional rounded corners.

How many items can I add to a checklist object?

You specify the item count when you create the checklist. The generator will render that many square tick-boxes stacked vertically, with the label text positioned beside or above the list.

Can I use the same project for both A4 and US Letter?

Yes, but you'll need to adjust margins and object positions if you switch paper sizes, because A4 (210 × 297 mm) is taller and narrower than US Letter (215.9 × 279.4 mm). The safest approach is to design once for your target size.

What happens if an object extends beyond the page margin?

The generator will still draw it, but it may be cut off by your printer's unprintable zone. Set appropriate margins (10–15 mm) and visually check your layout before printing.

Can I save my project and come back to edit it later?

The tool generates a PDF from the current project state. Saving and loading projects depends on the interface implementation—check whether the calculator offers a save/load feature or JSON export.
