Print a Year at a Glance on One Sheet of Paper

A one-page yearly overview is the cheapest way to think about the next twelve months. This free printable fits all twelve month calendars on a single A4 or US Letter page, arranged as a tidy four-by-three grid. Enter any year and the generator produces accurate mini calendars — first weekday correct, leap day handled, weekends visible.

It is the kind of sheet you tape inside a notebook cover, pin above a desk, or slip into the front of a project file. When someone asks whether the 15th of August is a Monday or a Saturday, the yearly overview answers in five seconds without opening a phone.

Why a one-page year is worth printing

Time horizons matter. Daily views hide the shape of the year; monthly views hide how one month relates to another. A yearly overview shows school terms, work quarters, holiday windows, and long-run projects as a single landscape. Use it for:

  • long-term project planning and Gantt sketching
  • counting weeks to a launch, exam, wedding or baby
  • annual leave planning across a team
  • holiday and trip scheduling
  • academic year overviews for teachers and parents
  • tax-year and financial-quarter planning
  • content calendars with monthly themes

It also makes an excellent front page for a custom printed planner — print the yearly overview as page one, then stack daily, weekly and monthly pages behind it.

What you can customise

  • Year: any four-digit year from the past or the future. The generator computes the correct first weekday for each month and accounts for leap years.
  • Week start: Monday or Sunday, applied consistently to all twelve mini calendars.
  • Paper size: A4 or US Letter.

The 4 × 3 layout is fixed because it is the ratio that fits twelve month boxes comfortably on a single portrait page. Four months per row, three rows, with tidy margins and a title strip at the top.

Worked example

A teacher prints the yearly overview for 2027 as a reference sheet. She picks Monday week start and A4 paper. The generator lays out all twelve months across three rows: January–April, May–August, September–December. Each mini calendar shows day numbers 1–31 in the correct weekday columns, with the February square correctly holding only 28 days because 2027 is not a leap year.

She highlights the school terms in one colour, half-term weeks in another, and circles the INSET days. The resulting page lives on her classroom wall all year, and she snaps a photo of it to send to parents before the academic year begins.

Who the yearly overview is for

Project managers and planners

Sketch milestones, phases and deadlines across the whole year on a single sheet, then refine them in the project planner.

Teachers and parents

Map academic terms, holidays and examination windows. The overview travels well as a pinned reference.

Freelancers and business owners

Block quarters, plan content themes, mark invoice dates, and spot quieter months for holidays.

Anyone counting weeks

Training blocks, pregnancy weeks, renovation timelines, study plans — all of them are easier to visualise on one page than scrolling through a phone.

How to use the generator

  1. Type the four-digit year (past, present or future).
  2. Pick Monday or Sunday week start.
  3. Choose A4 or US Letter paper size.
  4. Click Generate to preview the page.
  5. Download the PDF and print.
  6. Mark up the months by hand — term dates, holidays, deadlines, launch windows.
  7. Pin the sheet somewhere visible, or drop it into the front of a planner binder.

Methodology — what the template looks like

The page begins with a branded title strip and a large-year heading. Below that the body is divided into a 4 × 3 grid of mini calendar boxes. Each box carries the month name, a row of weekday single-letter headings (M T W T F S S or S M T W T F S depending on week start), and the day numbers laid out so the first date of the month falls in the correct column. Days are small but legible — sized to let you ring a date with a pen or shade a week with a highlighter.

The layout is produced by the shared branded template, so margins, fonts and footer line up with the daily, weekly and monthly planners. The yearly overview works particularly well as the first page of a stacked printable set.

Tips for marking up the overview

  • Highlight holidays and closures first so you can see what is actually available.
  • Use a different colour for each major project or theme.
  • Ring birthdays and anniversaries before doing anything else.
  • Draw a line linking each quarter-end so review dates are visible at a glance.
  • Keep the current month box marked with a small arrow or sticker.

Designed for A4 and US Letter printing

The yearly overview prints cleanly on both A4 and US Letter. The twelve mini calendars scale to the paper so day numbers stay legible on either page. Print at 100% scale to keep the column spacing correct.
