A Printable Gratitude Journal Page for a Daily Wellbeing Habit

Print a gentle one-page gratitude journal with three "I'm grateful for…" prompts, a short "today was good because…" line, and a reflection area underneath.

The page is designed for the classic three-good-things practice studied in positive psychology: write down three specific things you are grateful for each day and reflect briefly on why they mattered. Download as a clean PDF in A4 or US Letter and print a stack to keep by your bed.

This is a quiet, unintimidating page for people who want to build a wellbeing habit without subscribing to an app or buying a branded notebook.

Why keep a paper gratitude journal?

Gratitude journalling is one of the most-studied interventions in positive psychology. A few minutes of writing a day is linked to improved mood, better sleep and lower stress. Use the printable for:

  • a daily morning or evening wellbeing routine
  • therapy homework between sessions
  • classroom morning check-ins and form time
  • journalling with children at bedtime
  • post-burnout recovery and mood work
  • simply slowing down for five minutes before bed

Paper is part of the point — writing by hand slows you down and keeps the phone out of the routine.

What you can customise

The page is intentionally minimal:

  • Page title and date line
  • Three numbered "I'm grateful for…" prompts with ruled lines
  • A short "Today was good because…" line
  • A reflection box for a longer note
  • An optional affirmation strip at the bottom
  • Paper size: A4 or US Letter

You can turn the affirmation strip off if you prefer a cleaner, more minimal page.

Notes and limitations

  • The page is a journalling prompt sheet, not therapy — seek professional support if you are struggling.
  • Three gratitudes per day is the research-backed default; there is no score and no streak count.
  • The affirmation line is optional and does not need to change every day.
  • Print at 100% scale for clean margins on A4 or US Letter.

Who this journal is for

The page is written to suit a wide range of journalers.

Adults building a wellbeing routine

Keep a stack by the bed and fill in one page last thing at night.

Therapists and coaches

Hand a printed pad to clients as between-session homework.

Teachers

Use the page as a morning check-in during form time — the prompts are gentle enough for primary as well as secondary.

Parents and children

Fill one in together at bedtime as a calming end-of-day habit.

How to use the page

  1. Open the tool and set the page title — "Gratitude" works fine.
  2. Toggle the affirmation strip on or off.
  3. Pick A4 or US Letter.
  4. Click Generate and preview the page.
  5. Download and print a stack — at least a week at a time.
  6. Each day, write three specific things you are grateful for.
  7. Finish the "today was good because…" line in one sentence.
  8. Use the reflection box for anything else that is on your mind.

Worked example

A Tuesday evening page might read: (1) "Walked home through the park instead of the main road — the cherry blossoms are out." (2) "The phone call with my brother went better than I expected." (3) "Finally finished the laundry I had been avoiding." Today was good because: "I actually left my desk at lunchtime." Reflection: "I keep noticing that small wins matter more than big ones. Tomorrow: walk to the cafe, not the meeting room."

That is the whole page — five minutes, one pen, no notifications.

Methodology

Every page is rendered through the shared PrintablesWorld template, which draws the header, page number and watermark so the journal looks consistent with every other planner on the site. The journal layout itself is a clean vertical stack: title and date at the top, three numbered prompt blocks, a short "good because" line, a reflection box and an optional affirmation strip. Sizes are calibrated so handwriting fits comfortably on A4 or US Letter at 100% print scale.

Tips for making it stick

  • Pick the same time every day — by the kettle in the morning or by the bed at night.
  • Be specific — "the coffee at the Tuesday meeting" beats "good coffee".
  • Don't repeat yesterday's gratitudes — force yourself to notice something new.
  • If you miss a day, skip it — there is no streak to protect.
  • Keep the finished pages in a plastic wallet and read back through after a month.

Designed for A4 and US Letter printing

The page prints cleanly on A4 or US Letter with the same layout on either paper size. Choose whichever fits your printer and your notebook — the margins stay generous enough to bind or hole-punch.

A short line you repeat to yourself. Toggle it off if you prefer a cleaner, more minimal page.

Is this suitable for kids?

Yes — the prompts are gentle enough for children, and teachers often use it as a morning check-in.

Can I use it in the evening?

It works beautifully as an evening wind-down, especially the reflection section.
